Hi, I'm Mike Weissman and I've been a resident of North Aurora for more than 17 years. It's been the honor of my life to have served as our Colorado State Representative for House District 36 since 2017. Due to Colorado's term limit laws, I cannot continue to serve as our state representative after next year. I am a candidate to represent North Aurora in the Colorado State Senate in 2024 to continue my commitment to economic justice, housing justice, attacking climate change and pollution, strengthening consumer protection laws, reforming our criminal justice system, and other issues I have dedicated myself to as our state representative.

I believe in public service because I believe in keeping opportunity alive for future generations. Opportunity is not an accident. Rather it’s a result of choices that our government makes; whether we have laws on the books that reward hard work or just special interest influence; whether we invest in people or not; whether we acknowledge that any of us is prone to get knocked down at some point in our lives and might need a hand to get back up.

My grandparents and great-grandparents came to this country fleeing hunger and religious persecution and looking for opportunity — and they found it. I believe in public service because I believe in keeping the hope of opportunity alive for future generations.
